General Overview: The Manager of Health & Welfare (H&W) Benefits leads the day to day execution of all health and welfare (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, spending accounts, etc.) projects related to strategy, design and compliance. The manager is responsible for ensuring coordination and communication with several groups to ensure potential and actual changes are proactively discussed and agreed to, including but not limited to: The Director of Employee Benefits, and other members of the Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE) HR Shared Services, including Benefit Operations and the HR Support Center HR Information Systems HR Communications Finance Vendors The Manager will lead a team of individuals. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring that programs are: Designed to and ultimately comply with current regulations Support the organization's strategic objectives Competitive compared to other organizations Responsibilities: Provide oversight to all H&W related processes, policies and programs Participate in cross functional teams related to strategic planning and process improvement Ensure H&W benefit offerings align with overall culture of the organization. Supporting the development of the benefits budget specific to H&W programs. Reviews variance and engage with Finance to mitigate and manage risk. Works with H&W consultants and vendors in partnership with HR Shared Services. Negotiates services and costs with vendors to minimize expenses. Reviews effectiveness of H&W programs and services, and reports these results to Senior Management. Leads H&W team providing guidance, financial and budgetary direction and people management. Align H&W benefit program communications with overall HR and organization communication strategies. Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Human Resources or other related field. Eight (8) or more years of experience in H&W benefits, at least three (3) years in a lead benefits role, including people management. CEBS certification preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations. Tactical expertise and knowledge of benefits systems, processes and tools gained through a career of increasing responsibility in benefits Strategic expertise and knowledge of benefits governance, plan design, laws and regulations, related financials, legal, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements, benefit program administration, global risk pooling and enrollment processes. Experience conducting benefits due diligence and integration for M&A. Demonstrated experience managing a substantial benefit plan budget. Requires 3 years of managerial experience. Skills/Abilities/Competencies: Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement approach to completing work. Ability to operate at both a high strategic level as well as taking a very hands-on role in execution. Track record of implementing innovative solutions. Strong decision-making and leadership skills. Ability to build and manage high-performing teams. Ability to lead change management efforts while respecting the organizations culture. Excellent business acumen specifically around strategy/program alignment and financials. Team-oriented with the ability to build deep relationships and earn the respect of others. Strong presentation and problem-solving skills. Strong financial and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-changing environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (ability to speak C-suite language). Ability to be assertive in working with external vendors. Must be proactive in identifying problems and swift in resolving them. Ability to partner successfully with all levels in the organization. Demonstrate superior organizational and project management skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision.
